Subject: More BeHierarchic 1.0.5 problems
I hate to bring more grief to BeHierarchic, but I thought that maybe version 1.0.5 would fix all those things everybody has complained about. Maybe. But I recently had an interesting occurrence that caused me to lose faith again, so I thought I’d share it with you fellow netters and see if it’s not just something freaky on my own machine.
Try this: With BeHierarchic installed, choose “About Balloon Help...” >From the help menu. Before you click OK or do anything else, click again in the menu bar, as if you were about to turn Balloon Help on as indicated by the instructions now on your screen. What happens? Nothing? Now try and click OK, or press RETURN. On my machine, nothing happens. The computer is completely frozen, although the mouse does move around. Not even
Command-Option-Escape works right: “Unsaved changes will be lost” is shown, but that’s all. No buttons to click. Time to reach for the reset switch.
None of this happens when BeHierarchic is not installed. I realize that choosing “About Balloon Help...” is not an everyday activity, but who knows where else this might occur?
A potentially faithful but disappointed BeHierarchic user,
Robert Leslie

Note from Doug Miles:
Yes, the described freeze occurs on my Mac as well. To escape to the Finder, I found success in my usual way - pressing the Interrupt switch (the one to the rear of the Reset), and typing into the dialog that appears: G 80D5CE and then hitting the Return key.
But I don't think this confirmed but obscure glitch is a reason not to use BeHierarchic. We should know enough to dismiss a modal dialog (here, the one gotten by choosing “About Balloon Help...”) before taking any further actions. I haven't noticed any other problems.
